Downsizing Tips that You Should Know About
There comes a time when you have to make smart decisions and downsize. There are a number of factors that can influence your decision to move into a smaller house and these can be financial reasons, less maintenance, need for assisted living or kids moving out.
Demenagement Moving is here to help you with your downsizing move. We have special assistance for those willing to downsize or those planning to move into a retirement community. We have a highly trained and experienced team that will work closely with you to come up with a working strategy for your new home. Follow these tips for a smooth downsizing project:
De-clutter early
Do not even think of bringing junk with you when moving. Start by getting rid of things early i.e. an item a day; this can be done months before the big day. Focus on the items that you don’t see yourself using again and gradually get rid of them. There is no need of transporting things that you will never use again.
Cater to Your New Space
Does your new property have a yard? If the answer is a no, then get rid of the gardening tools and the lawn mower as well. If your home doesn’t have a patio, then get rid of the deck furniture. You should also consider the number of people who will be residing in your new home.
Keep Hold of Multi-Function Items
Downsizing means less space, you will not have the luxury of having extra rooms. Only have furniture that can be used in a number of ways i.e. couches that have fold out beds are ideal for your guests. You can also have dining tables that have folding leaves. Get rid of decorative furniture that does not serve a purpose.
